Check your insurance card for the word ‘HMO’ or call your insurance company’s 800 number to confirm your plan type. To avoid needing a referral, you can change your PCP to one of our Apollo Wellness clinicians to establish care with us instead.

What is PrEP and PEP?
PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) are both medications strategically used to prevent HIV infection, but they are used in different ways.
PrEP is a preventive medication that people at risk of HIV can take daily. It works by stopping the virus from establishing itself in the body, providing ongoing protection against infection.
PEP, on the other hand, is a treatment that is used after a potential exposure to HIV. It involves taking medication for 28 days and is most effective when started as soon as possible, ideally within 72 hours of the exposure. PEP aims to prevent the virus from entering the body and causing an infection.
The main difference is that PrEP is for ongoing prevention before potential exposure, while PEP is a response after a potential exposure has occurred.

Let me preface this by saying that I look forward to every appointment in the future with Apollo Wellness! From the first greeting as I walked in to the wholesome good-bye as I left the building, my experience was impeccable. 100/10 recommend! Especially anyone who identifies as LGBT. They offer primary care, amongst other services, and are super professional and respectful about the intake/initial consultation process.
I had my first appointment with Dr. Thackeray, and I felt like she really listened and responded well when discussing my health care. Not once did she ever make me feel unsettled or uncomfortable, which is one of the issues I’ve had with PCPs in the past. She was respectful and well-spoken and maintained a gentle beside manner when talking about things that aren’t the easiest to discuss.
I appreciated how focused and understanding she was, and how easy the whole thing seemed once it was over.
The staff alone were super respectful and very hospitable. I was nervous jumping into a new doctor’s office and finding the perfect PCP for me, but thankfully, with the help of the bubbly staff and the very calm atmosphere of the place itself, I was put at ease in no time. I look forward to recommending this place to my friends and family, and returning for future care.
I’ve always struggled finding a PCP… until Apollo Wellness! All the staff and providers are welcoming to the point where you can actually tell them what is going on with you, health-wise. This is a judgment-free zone 100% and I haven’t received better care anywhere else.
