What type of HIV and syphilis test is used?
Apollo Wellness uses the DPP® HIV-Syphilis test. It is an FDA-approved, CLIA waived* dual rapid test for the detection of antibodies to both Treponemal pallidum (TP, the cause of syphilis infection) and HIV in under 20 minutes from a single finger-prick blood sample.
*CLIA waived tests are simple laboratory tests that have a low risk of producing inaccurate results.
What happens during the dual rapid HIV-syphilis test?
A dual rapid HIV-syphilis test, also known as a dual rapid diagnostic test (RDT), detects antibodies to HIV and syphilis in a blood sample. The test is performed in the clinic and can be done with a quick, gentle finger prick.
What happens during the test?
- A blood sample is collected by pricking a finger.
- The sample is added to the test device.
- The test device uses a solid-phase immunochromatographic assay to detect antibodies.
- The test is read and interpreted by one of our medical professionals.
How long does this dual rapid test take?
The dual rapid HIV-syphilis test takes 15 minutes from start to finish.
